Weddings by Sheila Foster
The Fam at Balboa Park circa September-ish 2015
I am a San Diego native, born and raised in Rancho Penasquitos where I attended Mt. Carmel High School. I then attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on an athletic scholarship where I studied business. After college I moved back to San Diego where I have had various jobs and lived in various areas in San Diego such as, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Oceanside and Del Mar. I then got the brilliant idea to move. Out of San Diego to San Francisco, I only lasted two years. Don't get me wrong, San Francisco is beautiful and has history, better food, more nightlife....but I just missed San Diego far too much. No other city in the world has our weather, relaxed vibe and beautiful people! I'm in love with this town and I'm staying here forever. I currently reside in Rancho Penasquitos where I live with my amazing husband, Rion, our son, Harrison, our NEW baby girl, Dylan (TBA on the updated family pic) and our fur baby, Danni.
I've always loved weddings. Ever since I can remember, attending weddings was such a big and exciting deal for me. Everything about, them from the drama of the dress and ceremony to the excitement of the reception and the stories after the party. It never crossed my mind that I could be a wedding coordinator. Honestly, it just was not practical enough and I had no idea how to start. So I had a string of safe, 9-5 type jobs that paid the bills. It wasn't until I had my own wedding when I finally realized this was the job for me, I LOVED planning my wedding so much I was determined to make a career out of it. I was going to be a wedding coordinator. I played it safe though and kept my day job, but on the side I started working for free as an assistant to a well respected wedding planner in San Diego to gain experience. Then when I finally felt comfortable enough, I went on my own landed a position at a private wedding venue in Escondido. I am their exclusive day-of wedding coordinator and event manager. The more wedding coordination I did the more I loved it. I felt the internal push to start Weddings by Sheila Foster so I could have more flexibility and offer day-of wedding coordination, month-of wedding coordination, partial wedding planning and full service wedding planning. With working at a private venue and starting my own wedding coordination company, I was able to quit my 9-5. So I am happy to say, I coordinate weddings full-time, weddings are my new 9-5 and I couldn't be happier! I have the experience, creativity, gift of multi-tasking and organizational skills that make up a beautiful and seamless wedding that every couple dreams of.
